Filip Lazovski, violin
Filip Lazovski was born in Skopje, Republic of
Macedonia. He began playing the piano at a young
age before taking up the violin at age eleven. In
2001, Filip was awarded a scholarship to come to
the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. Filip is a
graduate from the Eastman School of Music in
Rochester, New York, where he studied with world
renowned violinist Oleh Krysa. He studied with
Edward Dusinberre of the Takács String Quartet,
along with Lina Bahn and Judith Ingolfsson at the
University of Colorado in Boulder. Filip received a
Masters in Performance and Chamber Music from
Kent State University as part of the Aidan String
Quartet, studying with the Miami String Quartet.
Performing regularly, Filip has given solo and chamber recitals across the United
States and leading Macedonian music festivals. He has won numerous prizes and
awards including a performance award from the Interlochen Arts Academy, grand
prize at the National Violin Competition in Skopje, Macedonia in 2000 and third prize
at the national Chamber Music Competition in Notre Dame, Indiana in 2003. Filip is
currently pursuing an Artist Certificate at the University of Missouri Kansas City
studying with Benny Kim.
